Ron & Cola

lorna bought a new phone charger!

sunny 28 °C

We had a lovely walk yesterday afternoon along the path at the back of the school, it seemed like it was a path through the rain forest, the nature around us was amazing! We saw a little humming bird and a tiny dog, we couldnt work out if it was made that way or if it was a baby. We had red pasta for tea and then lived it up by watching nanny mcphee and going to bed at 9pm as we were so tired.

This morning I woke up at 5am as usual we had our breakfast in the sunshine whilst frantically doing our spanish homework. After the lovely lesson we tried to catch the bus into town, but then we realised there wasnt one for ages so we walked it. We saw a cameleon in the bush and as we scared it it ran around and changed colour.

We went to an out door swimming pool which was fun! It absolutely tipped it down and there was thunder, so we headed to the shops on our endless quest for a phone charger. We practiced our spanish in the unusually large number of electrical shops, after two hours of trawling around in the rain WE FOUND A CHARGER TO FIT HER NOKIA. we bought some rum and cola called ron and cola to celebrate.

The only tourists in costa rica!

searching for some friends

sunny 28 °C

San Jose was lots of fun, very bright houses and colonial style buildings. We caught the tico train which was a brightly coloured train on wheels that took us on a high speed tour of the city. A friendly man called carlos drove the train, and his son [who wore dungarees had an afro and carried a loud speaker] told us what was going on. Carlos beeped the horn along to costa rican music and new york new york and rang the bell to tell cars to get out of the way.

We then caught the bus to Turriabla, which took us out of the city and up into the mountains. We arrived at the spanish school and were ushered in to a 4 year olds birthday party where we ate hot dogs and guacamole. At this point we realised that we are the only students at the school. We decided to head to the supermarket so we caught the bus into town, we didnt say anything to the driver we just thrust a handful of coins at him so he could pick the fare. We headed back for an early night!

This morning we got up bright and early for our first 4 hour lesson, the sun was shining brightly and we sat under the ranch. It was v intense and we have lots of homework to be getting on with. There were eagles and vultures flying around the garden and we looked out for sloths. We are no going to take the families wild dogs out for a walk to a waterfall.

love you loads

yes we are

semi-overcast 32 °C

We had a wonderful flight to Newark, the best thing about it was the 365 films we had to choose from and the fact that we were fed every 5 minutes. When we arrived in Newark we saw the beautiful NYC skyline, but overall we were not impressed as the people were rude and lorna was accused of smuggling bones and meat from africa! After another 2 films on the plane we arrived in San Jose and a beautiful old man called javier picked us up and we attemted to chat to him in spanish (unsuccessfully). The hostel 1110 apart from the rubbish name is very nice and today we are having a look around the city and then heading to turrialba! OVER AND OUT WE LOVE YOU LOADS FROM KATIE AND LORNA X X X X X
